Oh that child of mine.....

Sometimes this child that I love so much says things that make you want to laugh so hard. Last night was one of them. We were watching the movie Akeelah and the Bee. Incase you have not heard of the movie it is about a little girl that tries to compete in the national spelling bee. There is alot of big words thrown out the whole movie. My favorite word was Logorrhea. It means
1. pathologically incoherent, repetitious speech.
2. incessant or compulsive talkativeness; wearisome volubility.

The reason that I love this is because when it was said during the movie Gabe said "wow that is like me!" So true my lovable little boy, so true.

A little of what we did plus a book list......

Sam was trying learn about Pronouns. I made this file folder game for him called Pizza Nut. Unfortunetly there was a miss print and it did work out well. Sam got a great idea to check out Iknowthat.com. He found a great game to work on it. See here. I just love it when he figures things out like that. It is so nice to see his self esteem rise.
For Gabe's math class he made some supper. He was so excited because he got to crack eggs for the first time. It quickly became his favorite part of the day. While he was making it he had to stir the eggs with milk. He informed me that this was how we made Egg Nog. Funny kid because as soon as he finished saying that he said it was almost ready to be cheese. We were not making either. He cracks me up.
For Geography Sam and I played our Planet Earth Geography Game that we made. It was amazing I actually won. Sam is so strong in geography it hard to beat him at this subject.
I shared the musical instruments that the boys got yesterday with you. I thought you might like to see what quickly became their favorite one. The Gong. Surprised!!! They are so funny. Every time they finish something they ring it. It cracks me up.
I saw a little bit of this book cover sticking out of the shelf at the library. I knew right away that I had to get it for my boys. They dream of being able to do what this boy does. I thought that this was a really cute story. In ways it reminded me of the movie Night at the Museum. Really a cute story.
Of course any storybook that has a dance theme to it gets the boys attention (they are really loving dance class) This one sold me for being Laura Numeroff, I love her books. Of course she did not fail here. This story is about a little girl that loves to dance an takes a dance class. It is rough in the first few classes, none of the girls are getting along. That is until she finds a special way to get them all working together.
No More Kissing by Emma Chichester Clark
A book with monkey's is always perfect for this family. After all we have our own little monkey (Gabe). He also is very pickey about his kisses. You are only allowed to give kisses on his cheek except for special occasions. Alot like this story.

A Photo Recap

We have been missing for a few days. I hope that everyone had a great Turkey day with your families. Ours was wonderful. Leading up to the day we took a bit of time off from school work. There was some learning going on just nothing official. But we are back now so I thought that I would share some of the fun with you.
There was some sea shell washing to get off all of the beach sand. It made for a great life skills lesson and sensory lesson. Of course it was tons of fun. They played close to an hour.
Then for another life skills lesson Gabe feed the monkey. He loves this game. We got it from Lakeshore learning. He uses tweezers to grab bananas and feed it to the monkey.
The kids joined in on an online project. They are making ornaments to swap with other kids from around the country. I will post pictures when they are completed.

We baked some fresh bread. Gabe is really good at helping me in the kitchen. He is getting to good at it. I get a little bored waiting for my part, so I tend to cause trouble. Like this time with the Flour fight. HEHEHEHEHEHE. Trust me the kid got me back pretty good. What can I say, I like to have fun.

Practiced writing some letters. A lady in one of the online groups I am in made these great cards and shared them. How great is that. Sam even wants to practice writing his letters on them now. That is so great.
The worked on www.iknowthat.com and learned about animal habitats. In the picture they are sharing the headphones to listen to the different sounds that animals make.
Waiting so patiently to kick my butt at multiplication war. And he did kick it pretty good. I am very proud of him for that. :)
A sensory project of golf tee hammer. The one side is filled in with clay and he takes his little hammer and gets the golf tees pushed in. Today he worked on making letters out of the golf tees. I love when I can sneak in extra classes.
To leave you with one final thing is a kids say segment. This morning the boys and I were talking about when I was pregnant with them. I told them Gabe use to stick his toes in my ribs and Sam would try to stand up all the time. I said that they use to torture me pretty good. Sam's response was "momma we still torture you pretty good." I could not agree more but if this is the torture that I will get for life, I will take it.
Ok I have been missing from commenting on other peoples blogs to. I promise that over the next few days I will make my rounds. Until then I hope everyone is having a great day.

A Few Extra Pictures......

A Kids Say for you....
This little bit of knowledge was donated by Gabe...
"All people walk except babies. They crawl like ants."
You have just got to love this kid. He is so funny.

I thought that I would share a few of the extra photos I had left over from the week. This first one is of Gabe doing one of his math lessons. He was working on counting by 10. Gabe loves his cars so much, that we had him group them by tens and count up how much he had. 120 and that is just matchbox, he has bigger trucks to. Oh well, at least the all have a place to store.
The other day when I walking by the boys room, they were supposed to be cleaning but this is what I found instead. How cute are they, snuggling and reading.
Sam and his dad started working on a salt dough map of china this week. I will make sure to post a picture when it is finished. They will paint it this week. With that Our first week of school has finished. For the most part it was good and the kids had a lot of fun. I did have a few hard times though. With Gabe it is a constant battle to get him to focus and not play all the time. Then Sam is giving us a hard time with his writing. It is a constant battle with the kid. He hates it so much that it can take him a whole day to write out a half a page. I am not kidding on this. Any ideas on how to make it more fun for him so he does not fight it so much. Now I have to go set up the lessons for the rest of the week. Have a good day. :)

Kids Say the Darndest things.....
Ok Normally my kids say is entries are about Gabe because lets face it, he says lots of interesting things. This time though it is about my big guy. The other day we had this conversation with him that was to funny. I was talking to my dad on Fathers day and of course Sam got on the phone with him. They told him that they had a present to send to him. Well that is really sweet but like mst people they do not get to the post office as often as they want. Sam though gets very excited about this type of news and checks the mail everyday for it. I tryed to keep that from happening this time by telling him that it very kind that they thought of him but it may not get here that quick. This is were it turned funny. He looks at us and ask if it is ok to say the "F" word. My Dh and I just look at each other a little confused. We asked him what the "F" word was and he replies forgetful. So ok everyone the new "F" word is forgetful. Here I was thinking it was something else. Have a great day everyone.
