A Very Bad Day

We were trying to go to our grandmothers this weekend. Unfortunetly the car did not want to go. We made it about a half an hour down the turnpike and the engine died in the car. Not a very good thing, we still had about three and a half more hours to go. Thankfully it was a beautiful day and we had a big shoulder for the kids to play on.

Here are some shots of the kids playing on the shoulder. Gabe spent the time picking flowers. While Sammy tried to chase his Dad. After all of this playing the tow truck arrived. Very big excitment that the boys got to ride in that.

We arrived at the repair shop, and had to wait because someone had to come and get us. My grandmother actually drove across the state (about a 3 hour drive) to get us. The boys took time to entertain themselves while we waited. They were so well behaved we were so proud of them. So here are a few shots of them playing around.

boys entertaining themselves

We had a bad weekend, our car broke down. Well we had to spend a few hours at the repair place until our ride got there. So the boys were really well behaved and entertained themselves.

School day with daddy

Daddy had been working hard because of Tax Season. Now that is over he got a chance to take time and do some lessons with the boys. Gabe was working on the letter B so he had gabe glue buttons on to a B that he drew for him. Sammy got a lesson in flight. They found directions on how to make a simple airplane out of a toothpaste box. Unfortunetly the plane did not fly well but he had a good time learning about them with his Daddy.

Chicken Dance Gabe

Gabe loves playing with Chicken Dance Elmo. I managed to catch him this time on video. sorry that there is no sound. My camera does not take sound just pictures.

I thought that I would share these pictures with everyone. It is Sammy's favorite way of practicing his spelling. The game is called My First Spelling Bee from Leap Frog. The game is really wonderful, it covers first and second grade spelling. There is 12 different levels in the game so the kids can grow with the game. I purchased the game from target for about 10 dollars so it was not even that expensive.

Our Bean PlantAll of the pictures that I have been posting of our bean plant has been taken a week apart of each other. This was taken this morning, we got alot of rain this week so it grew alot. I will post a new picture next week.

I have been trying to get Sammy to take a little more responsibilty for his school work. I bought this board to have his list out for him. It is sort of our comand central for the family. This way he could check what is expected off him all week. It took a little bit of the constant struggle off me. Well this was the first week using the chart and he fell behind a little bit. Today became catch up day, and my table I think paid the price. Maybe next week will be better.

This is a typical sight around here. Sammy has such a love for reading that he usually has a book in his hands. If Gabe happens to notice him with a book he says "Sammy read to me" . He usually does so this happens alot. It has also started in other really cute moments. Gabe is in love with books to so he is starting to "read" to his stuffed animals.

A little while ago I posted about a bean plant that the kids had started. Well I thought that I would try to share each week how it is doing. This is what it looked like after one week. Since this picture it has rained so much here that the plant has gotten even bigger over the past couple of days.

The other day I took the boys on a walk to the library. The library is a little bit away, it is about 2 to 3 miles away. So we do not do this walk very often. Well this was Gabes first time doing the walk with out a stroller. Needless to say he was a little on the tired side. This was the first time that I got him to sit the whole time we were there. He is normally running around the place so much that we have to tag team to keep him from knocking all the books off from the shelfs.

Easter

I am a little behind on getting pictures up from easter. Easter was very simple this year. In the morning the boys got to see what the Easter Bunny brought them. Here is a couple of pictures of them playing with the Dino Magic. They were checking to see what was hatching in the volcano. Unfortunetly shortley after that their dad had to go into work because it is so close to the end of tax season.

They did get to play with the new sound game that I made for them (thanks to the amazing ladies in the group for the idea) out of easter eggs. They had to shake and find the matching sounds. They are still having lots of fun with this game.

Some of Sammy's school day!

He likes to use his numbers chart when he is doing his math. We are trying to get him to use different methods but this seems to be his favorite way right now. Also the below picture is of his favorite subject, Art. Today he designed a picture for the rain stick he is making.

This is an idea that I got off from another blog
The idea is to take tongue depressors put color coded stickers on the ends and the kids just match them up. Also you can write the name of each shape on the tongue depressor to help match up. Sammy and Gabe are enjoying geometry with this new project.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPA!!!!
WE LOVE YOU

Tuesday, April 03, 2007

Our school day was really simple today. Sammy did his lesson plan about the Pony Express. He went through that so quick he asked me for more work. I printed out his next mural for him. He is doing a mural of the world. I have been working with shapes for Gabe. Today he painted with the stencils that I made. We are going to save his paintings and make a book of them for him to look back at.

The boys decided to try and grow some beans for science class. Today they planted them, So we took the picture of day one, this way we can keep track. I plan on taking a picture each week so the boys can chart the growth progress.
OUR DAY OUT!!!!!
Our weekends are always busy right now trying to fit things in. Hopefully things slow down some soon. However the boys and I were home on Saturday so we decided to go for a walk to see there daddy at work because it was such a beautiful day. I thought that I would share some of the wonderful shots of my boys. We always make our walk into adventures. The shot of Sammy lifting his little brother I thought was sweet because Gabe pretends that he can not get over the tree roots so his brother has to come in and save him. Very sweet. I also got a shot of them at the fountain. Gabe loves playing in the water so much. Plus the shot of Gabe sitting in the bushes, he was playing hide and seek with his brother.
