Changes for us....

In life everything is always changing for everyone.  Some good, some bad.  I choose to focus on the good.  A change that we have going is that there are two new sites that you can find us at.

First is that we finally started our own Etsy shop.  There is not much on it right now (what is there is good though;)).  Our goal is to add at least a new item each week right now until things get built up some.  So make sure to keep checking it out to see what new things are arriving.  Head on over to Sabe Creations to see what is there now.

Then our other place that we have is a photo blog.  I have been wanting to start one of those for a while now.  I finally got a chance to.  The boys and I have been taking pictures for awhile now as a way for us to have a bonding time.  Now we will have a place to showcase them.  I really hope that you stop by and check out what we see in our daily life..  Check out Sabe Photos....

Celebrate the Boy

Two of my favorite craft blogs, Made and Made by Rae, started getting together last year to do a whole month on boy projects.  The projects were really great and they are doing it again this year.  I can not wait to see what they are going to do.  It starts today, so make sure to click on the button and head on over there.  What are you waiting for, lets celebrate those boys!

Our halloween swap...

My friend Mamagames over at mind games set up a Halloween Swap this year.  It was alot of fun.  We got a really sweet family up in Ohio for our swap.  Here are some of the pictures of the great stuff that they sent to the boys.
The sent a package of Twix (yes we could not wait to get into them, yummy).  A pumpkin Spice granola,
some cool orange bowls.  Then a really fun ice cube tray, skull heads.

They also sent along a few things to play with.  A pirate play set, and a kitty mask (as I am typing this I realize that I forgot the Knights shield, oops)  Some glow in the dark braclets that Gabe is very excited to try.  Finally they sent a book to Sam.

A really great package as you can see.  Thanks so much to our swap family in Ohio.  What is everyone else doing for fun this halloween.

A JUMPSTART REVIEW AND A CONTEST...

Recently I recieved an e-mail from our friends at Jumpstart. They wanted to know if we would be interested in reviewing their new game for the Wii.

It is called Escape from Adventure Island. As soon as Sam heard the name he was so excited because that was his favorite land on their website. So of course we jumped at the chance. They were kind enough to send us a free copy. It arrived the other day and the boys started playing on it right away.

The game is great. There is so many different skills that they can learn on all the different subjects. Dh played it too and he said it is really good because the kids can grow with it. The challenge can increase with each level.

I did find a couple of things that I did not actually care for on it. The first one is the amount of players that they have. It is only a one player game and that makes it hard when you have two or more children. I hear alot of "Mom has he played long enough yet, I want to play now" (they really love the game). You can get past that though by putting time limits of course. The only other problem that I found was the spot that you can save the game. It only has enough spots to save three different players games. Which is ok in my family because I only have the two kids but with familys that have more than that it can be difficult.

With that being said I LOVE the game. It is a game that is filled with wonderful learning oppurtunities. Being homeschoolers I do try to fit the game in the lesson. I mean when you have to learn about rhyming words would you rather do a worksheet or ride on a jet pack blowing up mines that do not rhyme with your words. Even if you do not homeschool I still recommend the game because it is such a fun way to learn.

To end I included a video from each of the boys about what they like and do like so that you can hear straight from them. Just a note though, in Sam's video he mentions the thing that he does like that the game controllers freeze up. I was watching and it was not doing that. I think that it was an issue with our controller (low battery).

Now to the contest. Jumpstart is running a contest over on their site. All they want from you is to know how you use your imagination and escape from your everday life and turn it into an adventure. Check out this prize list:

This is the grand prize:

1 copy of JumpStart Escape from Adventure Island (rated E by the ESRB)
1 Nintendo Wii console – to escape boredom
$250 in SpaFinder® gift certificates – to escape stress
1 Flip™ Mino HD video camera – to record your adventures
3 lifetime JumpStart memberships – 1 for you, 2 to share with friends
500 JumpStart.com virtual coins – to keep your kids’ online adventure exciting
JumpStart gear – to dress for adventure

If you do not win this maybe you can be one of the 50 winners that will recieve a copy of the game. Pretty cool if you ask me so hurry on over and sign up between now and November 16th. Good Luck to everyone that enters.

Mom Of The Year?!?!?!

At least that is what my friend Kate thinks. She is far to kind, but I am really honored.

There are some rules that come along with this:

Admit one thing you feel awful about involving being a mom. Get it off your shoulders. Once you've written it down, you are No Longer allowed to feel bad. It's over with, it's in the past. Remember, you're a good mom!

Oh what to narrow it down to, so much to choose from. I would have to say my patience with the boys. I lose it so quickly during the day, well not every day, but often enough. I am trying to work on that, I think it is getting better.

Step two -- Remind yourself you are a good mom, list seven things you love about your kids, you love doing with your kids, or that your kids love about you. These are the things to remind yourself everyday that you Rock!

O.K. Seven between two boys, It won't be easy but I can narrow down all of the things that I love about them to seven things.

1.) The thirst of knowledge that the boys have for everything. They want to learn everything they get their hands on.

2.) Seeing the brotherly love that falls between the two of them.

3.) Watching them dance, it always bring a smile to my face!

4.) When we go to the library, I love how we guide them back to the car because they can not get their nose out of the books.

5.) I love how they always want to help me with cooking.

6.) When we snuggle up and just read.

7.) Of course the number one thing that I love about them the most is their smile and laughter. It is infectious.

Now I need to name 7 other mothers for this award, I wish that I could name all of them because they all deserve this award. Well here are the ones that I chose.

1.) Amber -- even though we tend to miss her here in the blog world, She is an amazing mom. The reason that she is missing so much from blog world is because she is so busy with her children.

2.) Yasmina -- It is almost like we have twin boys, just seperated at birth. LOL. I love all of the crafty stuff she does with her kids.

3.) Piseco Mom at Mind Games -- Other than the fact that she has some of the sweetest most adorable little kids to show that she is such a wonderful mom, she does so much for her kids during schooling. I mean come on she did an exam on actual roadkill, what a mom!

4.) Mrs. Darling -- If only I could be as organized as her. She is always on the go with her kids and completes so much with them. She is always offering her advice up on her blog to help out us other moms.

5.) Patricia -- She has twins and takes them out on amazingly fun outings, then shares some beautiful pictures of the events with us.

6.) Amy Sue -- She maintains a house with 3 boys (one is a newborn) and a bunch of bunnies. To keep a house running with that much going on shows how amazing of a mom that she is.

7.) Fairiemom -- She is a great at always trying to find new and intersting ways for her daughter to learn. I have even a learned of a few new fun things for my boys.

These are all amazing moms, make sure to check them out. What I write about them does not do enough justice for them.

I have been tagged....

Ok I got tagged by two of my blog friends for this here and here. I figured that I better get it done.

The rules for this one are simple - you go to your pictures folder and go to the sixth one and then you find the sixth picture and post it.

First please excuse the messy room in the back ground. Other than that I love this picture because the boys are so sweet together. How cute giving his little brother a piggy back ride.

Ok now I have to tag 6 more people for this, and I can not wait to see what they have to share.
1.) Kate

2.) Yasmina

3.) Amber (Maybe she will get back to blogging :))

4.) Mrs. Darling

5.) Piseco mom

And last but not least

6.) Nina

Ohhhh then there is Mrs. Darling. She has so much wonderful advice to give out from education to cooking. She has been a great help at taking away any excuses for not being able to do something.
Then finally there is Nina. If you need a wonderful book for your child check her out. With her learning list I find many wonderful ideas that I can do with my boys.

Ok So it has been a really long time since I have been on here. We were so busy finishing up with school that it was kind of the last thing on my mind to do some blogging. Well we are finally getting done with school (Sam's Evalutation is next week) for a break so I can get back into the blogging.
A way you can tell that you have been gone to long is that you get tagged for two meme's. Which I did thanks to my good friend Kate. So I am going to do my best to answer them now. The first one was about what Quirks I have. OMG I am nothing but a quirk, but I will give it a shot at keeping it down to six. The Rules are as follows:

* Link the person who tagged you
* Mention the rules in your blog
* Tell about six unspectacular quirks of yours
* Tag a new set of six following bloggers by linking them

Quirk One- I can not sleep at night unless I am on my belly and feet hanging off the bed.
Quirk Two- I love vaccuming. It is the one type of cleaning that you can tell right away that it is getting clean. You can hear all of the dirt coming up.
Quirk Three- Ok this one is donated from DH (It is a quirk that we both share) We loving cleaning the lint out of the dryer. I know we are very weird.
Quirk Four- When I am eating candy like M&M' s or skittles I have to have them seperated by colors.
Quirk Five- When I eat my meals I tend to only focus on one part of my meal at a time.
Quirk Six - I can not stand it when people chew their Ice. It sends chills down my spine.

Ok so that was the quirks. Amazingly Dh says that I am not all that quirky. LOL. I have to tag six other people now. Where I would normally follow this rule I am so far behind that every one I can think of has been tagged for this. So If you want to do this one please leave me a message and I will happly check it out.

Now for tag two from Kate
The rules:
1. Post the rules of the game at the beginning.
2. Each player answers the questions about themselves.
3. At the end of the post, the player then tags five people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read the player’s blog.
4. Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer

The Meme of Fives....

Ok so now I am suppose to tag other people for this but once again I am going to let you guys decide if you want to do this. If you do please leave me a message because I would love to check it out.

Alright that is all for me right now. I promise that I will not disappear so long this time. I actually have some photos to upload and some plans to share of our new year. Oh yeah and some more of the book list. Should be a few more entries this week. Have a good night.

Sunday, March 16, 2008

Ok I got tagged a few days ago and I have just been so busy that I have not gotten to it until now. Sorry about that, I know that you have all been anxiously waiting the riveting details about me. So here goes nothing...

First the rules....
Link back to the tagger and post the rules. Share 5 facts about yourself. Tag 5 more people at the end of yours, make sure to link back to them also. Then let them know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment at their blog.

Ok are you ready for this...

1.) I grew up in Maine which some of you know this. However it was a really small town. I had the coolest back yard, so much to explore. see here.

2.) Alright I will admit it.... I was a band geek. I stopped playing though when I relized I have absolutly no skill on any instrument.

3.) I am a pretty decent artist though. As long as it is of cartoon characters though. Any time I have tried to draw actual people, I have had so many problems with their eyes. No matter what they always end up looking alien or asian, even if they are or not.

4.) My husband is my college sweetheart.

5.) I use to have an obsession with the Disney Company. I wanted to be the first women CEO of the company. I guess dreams change for the better because I am exactley where I need to be. Mamma to my beautiful boys.

Ok so now that you all find me so much more interesting, please try this out. I am so far behind on getting this done that most people already got tagged, so please do this then let me know. Leave me a comment and I will be happy to come check it out.

Tuesday, February 05, 2008

What a day I had yesterday. It started out pretty well considering that DH was at work until 8:30 last night. The kids were working on the school work. Gabe was having a blast playing on starfall.com and then we read a couple of books. We read Me and My Place in Space and Me and the Measure of Things by Joan Sweeney. Excellent books. She has more in the series too, so check her out. Sam worked on Rosa Parks since it was her birthday. He read 2 books about her. The Bus Ride that Changed History by Pamela Duncan Edwards and If a Bus could Talk by Faith Ringgold. They wanted to play with their pop up bus too in honor of her, but they ran out of time. They decided to try and do that today. Sam also did some work sheets and studied up on constellations. That was our morning. It was pretty good, well then we have the afternoon. I put the boys down for naps (because they certainly needed it.) Well Gabe goes into my room and Sam stays in theirs. Gabe fights every single nap. So in rebellion this time he dumped a container of nuts and bolts all over my floor. Then he got into my craft supplies and found the permenant ink stampers. I did include pictures below. I got lucky it could have been worse. Then Sam woke up saying that I needed to spray the whole apartment down because he had an accident while sleeping. Oh what a day. DH sat safely at work laughing his butt off at me.

Well I had every intention to blog about this yesterday, but I did not get a chance. I did however find this given to me by Kate. Thanks Kate it made my day improve alot. I automatically want to give it to you to because your blog is excellent!

To Share with other people that I think is excellent. Now that is tough because there are so many out there. To start off I want to give it to Amber. She is so amazing with all of the projects that she does with her kids. So very full of information. Really cute kids to boot. Next I want to give to Yasmina. I love reading about her adventures with her kids. It feels like we so much in common when I read hers. Then I want to give it to Pattey. Her blog is just a lot of fun to read. She has so much fun on things that she does with her kids. Basically I would give this to everyone out there but then that would leave no one for these ladies to give it to. So you are all Excellent. Keep blogging.

A meme .....
The Rules:
1) Link to the person who tagged you.
2) Post the rules on your blog.
3) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
4) Tag at least three people at the end of your post and link to their blogs.
5) Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
6) Let the fun begin!

----------
1.) Ok I think that I will be a brave one and say my weight. I am actually extremely over weight, not exaggerating I could lose close to 100 pounds. I am not by any means saying that this is a good thing. I have actually taken the right steps, in hopes that my children will see a good influence instead of a bad, and got a treadmill after Christmas. To date I have lost 15 pounds this month. Lets just hope the rest goes as smoothly.

2.) Ok now some not as depressing ones....I love photos. Taking them that is. I mean how can I resist, Have you seen my children. Absolutely gorgeous, good chance that is just a biast (sp?) mom talking but I am sticking to my story.

3.) I love being outside. I am trying to get the family into camping. Hopefully by this summer we will get to go.

4.) I am a crafty person. I love looking at things and seeing if I can make it myself. Any way to save some money and it feels good to make something with your own two hands.

5.) I love movies. Anything from Kick butt action films to a really good tear jerker. I could do with out the sci fi tho. I will watch it for my dh tho. It is some of his favorites.

6.) Ok last one....I love to read. Mostly mysteries but usually ends up a lot of kids books. Hopefully that will change one of these days and I will get some extra time to read something for me. Oh well a book is a book right. At least I get a chance to read.

Ok now that was not to painful. It says that I have to tag three people.

First I am going to tag Mrs. Darling at Dishpan Dribble. Her blog is great if you have not checked it out please. Her entries are very informative.

Next I am going to tag Shauna at Waterfront learning. She always has helpful links so make sure to check it out.

Last but not least I am going to tag Jennifer at Little Acorn Treehouse. Another informative blog. So check this one out to.

All three of these women a really kind a have such terrific blogs. I always come away wanting to do so much more with my children after reading what they do with theirs. So check them out.

I got tagged--
Kate at Homeschooling in the Garden State tagged me to list 8 things that I like about myself. Now this is probably one of the hardest things that there is for me, but I will try.

1. I love art and can even draw cartoon characters really well.
2. I am very nuturing.
3. I can always make my boys laugh.
4. I am always willing to help someone.
5. I make really yummy chocolate chip coconut cookies.
6. I am usually really patient.
7. I am creative.
Ok. I admit I am stumped. I am impressed that I came up with 7 on my own. I did ask my dh and dc what they thought I should put. My dh said friendly, Sam said nice, and my 4yo said that I burped. Those are the things they all like about me. Now I am supposed to tag 7 others. here you go.

Your Superpower Should Be Mind Reading
You are brilliant, insightful, and intuitive. You understand people better than they would like to be understood.Highly sensitive, you are good at putting together seemingly irrelevant details. You figure out what's going on before anyone knows that anything is going on!
Why you would be a good superhero: You don't care what people think, and you'd do whatever needed to be done
Your biggest problem as a superhero: Feeling even more isolated than you do now
What Should Your Superpower Be?
