All the birch trees in my yard do is spit off some kind of gold dots that leave spots on my fresh clothes hanging on the line.

Would your boys like some fall leaves? Our trees in PA should start to turn colors soon and fall to the ground in the next few weeks. I can have my children collect some colorful leaves from trees in our area if they would like some. I am sure leaves are not as useful as birch bark. All we ever do with them is make turkeys, fall place mats, piles to jump in, and something to identify a type of tree.
